Gift Establishes Chair to Expand Physician Leadership Training

Christopher Miller, MD
Christopher Miller, MD, Chief Clinical Officer, UH Clinical Network, is the inaugural chair holder of the Carol and Arthur F. Anton Chair in Physician Leadership.

As Chair of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, Art Anton is aware of the impact endowed positions have on the health system. “They help recruit and retain top physician-scientists and give them the freedom to carry out their goals and objectives, as well as strengthening the areas they work in.”

Art says he has always believed in the benefits of leadership training and the positive effects it has on the performance and culture of an institution. To expand those experiences, Art and his wife, Carol, established the Carol and Arthur F. Anton Chair in Physician Leadership. Christopher Miller, MD, Chief Clinical Officer, UH Clinical Network, is the inaugural chair holder.

“I hope Dr. Miller will drive the two physician organizations to develop business and strategic skills to help carry out UH’s strategic plan and to anticipate the changes in the health care environment,” Art said.

“The Anton family’s legacy of service to UH and the Northeast Ohio communities we serve is one of direct impact,” said Dr. Miller. “This endowed position is another example of their established spirit of generosity."

“Together, we will capitalize on the foundational strengths of the current Anton Fellowship Program for physicians to systematically develop our leadership culture, education and development programs. This will better position our physician teams to lead and navigate our system through current and future challenges. This is truly a special gift Mr. and Mrs. Anton have given our UH family. We are all so very grateful."
