University Hospitals opened a new UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute location at the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in Berea, creating a unique destination where professional athletes and members of the community can access leading sports medicine and orthopedic care.

Located just yards from the Cleveland Browns practice fields and training facilities, the clinic gives Browns players convenient access to UH medical care while extending that same sports medicine expertise to athletes and active individuals throughout the community. The Berea location also expands access to orthopedic care for athletes and families across Cleveland’s west and southwest communities.

“The best sports medicine care is built around the athlete, making expertise, diagnostics and treatment readily available so we can evaluate injuries quickly, develop the right plan and help athletes return safely to the activities they love,” said James Voos, MD, Cleveland Browns Head Team Physician and the Jack & Mary Herrick Distinguished Chair, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at University Hospitals.

The new location reflects UH’s Pee Wee to Pro™ approach to sports medicine, serving youth and high school athletes, collegiate athletes, weekend warriors, active adults and professional athletes. Across Northeast Ohio, UH physicians, athletic trainers and other specialists support athletes at Baldwin Wallace University and more than 70 high schools, reinforcing a commitment to exceptional care at every level of activity.

Patients will have access to UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute physicians and specialists, along with on-site MRI and X-ray services to help streamline evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Specialists from UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s will provide care tailored to the developing bones, muscles, ligaments and joints of children, teens and young adults.

Celebrating a New Chapter

The new location was celebrated with an Oct. 13 ribbon cutting attended by Michael and Grace Drusinsky, Cleveland Browns Managing Partners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, Dr. Voos, Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel and community leaders.

“We are thrilled to build upon our partnership with University Hospitals and to open the UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute location at the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus,” said Dee Haslam, who is a dedicated member of the UH Board of Trustees and is co-chair of UH’s historic Because of You campaign. “The health and well-being of our athletes and our communities is so important to our family. Our players will have immediate access to MRIs and X-rays, and every recreational athlete in Northeast Ohio can get the same outstanding care right here in Berea.

“We are grateful to Dr. Voos, the Drusinsky family, University Hospitals, CrossCountry Mortgage and the City of Berea for their partnership in making this possible.”

A Legacy of Support

The new location builds on the longstanding generosity of Michael and Grace Drusinsky, whose philanthropy has helped advance UH’s vision for exceptional sports medicine care. Their commitment reflects a shared belief that athletes at every level should have access to the expertise and resources they need to stay healthy, recover from injury and return to the activities they love.

“My wife Grace and I are thrilled to see the UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute at the Cleveland Browns Cross Country Mortgage Campus open to care for athletes from Pee Wee to Pro, including our Cleveland Browns players, student athletes and patients in our community,” said Michael Drusinsky.
