Speedway Supports UH Rainbow Through Children's Miracle Network

Jerry Hazzard

“No guts, no glory” is 11-year-old Jerry Hazzard’s favorite phrase and it’s one that exemplifies his tenacity and strength. Born at just 26 weeks and weighing less than three pounds, Jerry spent the first 101 days of his life at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Jerry continued to fight and grew stronger every day. With his parents by his side, he was finally strong enough to go home.

These days, Jerry plays basketball, flag football and even holds a black belt in karate. And now, he’s playing golf. This summer, Jerry and his family represented UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s at the 30th Annual Speedway Miracle Golf Tournament, held at NCR Country Club in Kettering, OH. They were joined by forty-three Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals along with a number of Speedway vendors, store managers, and leadership.

For thirty years, Speedway has partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network and the hospitals that work to save the lives of children every day, like Jerry. Funds raised through the golf tournament are used to advance pediatric healthcare by providing critical lifesaving equipment and much needed resources for sick and injured children in the communities Speedway serves. A portion of these proceeds benefit UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s in addition to the support raised at local Northeast Ohio Speedway cash registers each year.

Thank you to all our friends at Speedway and their customers for helping fuel miracles and keep an eye out for signage featuring Jerry at your local Speedway!
