Gift from Penni and Stephen Weinberg will support the future Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Center at UH Cleveland Medical Center

A $5 million gift from the Penni M. and Stephen J. Weinberg Family Fund of the Joseph and Florence Mandel Family Foundation to Because of You: The Campaign for University Hospitals will support the future Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Center at UH Cleveland Medical Center. A space to convene, learn and discover, the facility will be a gathering ground for conferences and medical forums, caregiver education and training, UH events, and more. The Penni and Stephen Weinberg Grand Hall within the center will be named in recognition of their support.

The 30,000-square-foot Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Center will be a state-of-the-art education, conference and training facility at UH Cleveland Medical Center. In addition to the ground floor hall and gallery, the dynamic venue will house classrooms, simulation labs and breakout space dedicated to caregiver education and training. The fully philanthropically funded project launched last year with a lead gift from Iris S. Wolstein and the late Bert L. Wolstein.
“We are thrilled to further our support of UH through this exciting project and help foster the health system’s trademark values of compassion, collaboration and community,” said Stephen.
Longtime supporters of UH, Penni and Stephen have previously supported UH Neurological Institute and the Phase 2 expansion of UH Ahuja Medical Center.
“Penni and Stephen are thoughtful philanthropists, and it is an honor to be the recipients of their continued faith and support,” said Daniel I. Simon, MD, President, Academic & External Affairs and UH Chief Scientific Officer, and Ernie and Patti Novak Distinguished Chair in Healthcare Leadership. “Thanks to their support, the Iris S. and Bert L. Wolstein Center will soon transform our main campus and serve as a living hub for breakthrough ideas and meaningful connection.”
