Expanding Heart Care at UH Lake West Medical Center
June 12, 2025
UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute is expanding advanced cardiac care and vascular services in the community with a new structural heart program and cardiac catheterization laboratory at UH Lake West Medical Center. There, caregivers perform minimally invasive tests and procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular issues while keeping patients close to home.
“We are excited to see continued investment in UH Lake West Medical Center,” said Robyn Strosaker, MD, Market President and Chief Operating Officer, UH Lake Health Medical Centers. “Here, patients will find the same level of experience and state-of-the-art equipment they find at UH Cleveland Medical Center – in the convenience of a community hospital setting.”
Newly available minimally invasive cardiac procedures will provide alternatives to open-heart surgery, treat atrial fibrillation, and make stroke recurrence less likely. The hospital has also expanded peripheral, coronary and electrophysiology procedures to monitor and treat the heart’s electrical activity, making for better on-site treatment of patients with pacemakers.
“We get you back on your feet and to your family quicker through minimally invasive techniques, providing excellent patient care and satisfaction,” said interventional cardiologist Justin Dunn, MD, MPH, Regional Director of the Valve & Structural Heart Disease Center.
The expansion furthers UH’s investment in community-based care, a key part of the health system’s Because of You campaign. Lake County residents will see additional improvements in care and experience, with the construction of a hybrid operating room at UH Lake West Medical Center scheduled to finish later this year.
