Mia and Vivienne’s Story is Hope in Action

When Mia learned she was pregnant after years of infertility, a long-awaited dream was taking shape. But at the same time, a routine scan led to a diagnosis that changed everything: stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma. Suddenly, Mia was navigating both pregnancy and cancer.

Mia’s care required close coordination across University Hospitals among specialists in oncology, cardiology and maternal-fetal medicine, with visits split between UH Cleveland Medical Center and UH Minoff Health Center. After careful planning, Mia received chemotherapy during her second trimester and delivered her daughter, Vivienne, healthy and strong. In January, holding Vivi in her arms, Mia rang the bell to mark the end of active treatment and the start of a new chapter. cases, the longest journeys, and the moments when answers are unclear and hope feels fragile.
