Support Renovations at UH St. John

Would you like to walk the same grounds as your favorite golf legends? Follow your favorite player from the first tee, or watch all the players from your favorite hole? You may just have that opportunity if you win the UH St. John's Annual Golf Classic raffle, which includes a trip for two with lodging to the 2019 Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club. The winner has a choice of attending either Friday, April 12, Saturday, April 13, or Sunday, April 14, 2019. Raffle tickets must be purchased by Monday, August 13.

The raffle is just one of the many activities planned for the fifth annual golf outing in support of UH St. John's Medical Center. The event on Monday, August 20, 2018 is being held at the beautiful Red Tail Golf Club in Avon, where golfers will enjoy 18 holes on the premier course, lunch, cocktails, dinner and awards. Registration begins at 10:30 am, followed by a shotgun start at 1:00 pm.

The chair of the Masters raffle is UH St. John's patient Rick Taylor. In 2009, when Rick needed double knee surgery, he looked to UH St. John's Medical Center for help. "After thirty years of athletics and four meniscus tears, arthritis took over both of my knees. I had them both replaced at the same time. I was in pain and really needed relief. I went to UH St. John’s and they came through 100%," said Rick. "Today I am back on the golf course and pain-free. St. John's is a vital health anchor for families in western Cuyahoga and eastern Lorain counties. We have the highest quality, personalized care available right in our own backyard. I'm happy to help encourage others in our community to support the hospital's excellent work."

Since 2014, the UH St. John Medical Center Golf Classic has nearly raised more than $200,000 to benefit the UH St. John Medical Center Innovation Fund, which supports the newest advances in research and treatments for the patients we serve. This year, proceeds raised will help renovate nearly 80 surgical units on the third floor of the hospital, the very floor where Rick recuperated nine years ago. More than 7,000 UH St. John's patients call the third floor their temporary home every year. It served Rick well, and he sees the golf outing as an opportunity to give back.
