Special Dinner for a Special Place

Dinner is Ready! A view of their first event in 2016 hosted by the
UH Rainbow nurses - Debbie, Rosella, and Kathy.

Last year, Debbie Prusak, RN, Rainbow 6 Nurse Manager, learned about Night of 100 Dinners, a new fundraising event for UH Rainbow Babies & Children's, and knew that she wanted to participate. "It sounded like a fun event and an easy way to give back," she explained.

The event encourages friends, families, neighbors and colleagues to dine together while raising funds and awareness for UH Rainbow Babies & Children's. Participants are encouraged to be creative with their events, from casual gatherings like pizza parties with the soccer team to formal affairs such as celebrating in a downtown Cleveland ballroom. "This event opened up so many possibilities for us to do whatever we wanted," said Debbie.

Debbie called on her friends and colleagues Rosella Dempsey, RN, NICU Senior Clinical Nurse and Kathy Haas, RN, NICU Assistant Nurse Manager to host a joint event. "We wanted it to be simple," explained Kathy, who hosted 50 of their closest UH Rainbow colleagues, friends and family in her barn. The Italian Dinner at the Farm grew a little larger than anticipated, but the nurses wouldn't change a thing. "We had so much fun and we raised close to $3,000," said Rosella.

Now in its second year, Debbie, Rosella and Kathy hosted an event again and added Ann Reitenbach, RN, NICU Nurse Manager to join them. "We think Rainbow is so special," Rosella explained, "Why wouldn’t we want to get together and give back?"
