VISION 2010 is a defining milestone for University Hospitals and the patients and families we serve. Our strategic plan represents the single-largest endeavor University Hospitals has ever pursued in our nearly 150-year history of caring for our community.
At University Hospitals, we are proud to be a health care leader committed to meeting the ever-changing needs of our community. Our innovative plans and vigilance in fulfilling our mission have brought an exceptional level of care to millions of patients and their families.
Throughout our long history, we have asked two simple and important questions: What will be our community’s future health care needs, and what must we do to meet and exceed these needs? Our answers have consistently reflected our spirit of innovation and collaboration, our commitment to providing the highest-quality, patient-centered care, and, indeed, our mission – To Heal. To Teach. To Discover.
VISION 2010 marks a new chapter in our deep and rich history. It embodies our core values – Excellence, Diversity, Integrity, Compassion, and Teamwork – and enables University Hospitals to provide superior health care to our community and influence the future of medical advances worldwide in the following ways:
- We are building on our strengths. Our new Cancer Hospital, Quentin & Elisabeth Alexander Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, and expanded adult and pediatric Center for Emergency Medicine will elevate our longstanding excellence in these areas to new levels.
- We have renewed our commitment to caring for our community. As our population ages, the day-to-day health care needs of the people we serve are considerable and growing. VISION 2010 positions us to meet and exceed these needs through strategic investments such as UH Ahuja Medical Center and other endeavors.
Through VISION 2010, we will continue to demonstrate leadership and fuel research and innovations that will be applicable nationally and worldwide.
Health care will always be marked by considerable challenge and change. Our abilities to anticipate the future and remain at the leading edge will bring tremendous opportunities in clinical research, innovative techniques, and the search for new therapies, treatments, and cures.
As an academic medical center devoted to our patients, we must be poised to capitalize on these opportunities. The reward is the renewed hope of a grateful patient, the smile of a relieved family member, and the assurance that we will maintain the best care in the world for the communities we serve.
We are eager to see our vision realized. Most of all, we look forward to the spirit of partnership that will form as our friends join us in this effort. Just as our past has been molded by overwhelming community support, our future will be shaped by the generosity of those who share our commitment to excellence in health care.
Yours in good health,
Thomas F. Zenty III
