Endowments are created through philanthropy and provide permanent, annual support of the University Hospitals mission - To Heal. To Teach. To Discover. Gifts of endowment are a wonderful way for an individual or family to honor a particular physician, while establishing a lasting legacy at UH. Those who give gifts of endowment are recognized and honored through permanent membership in the Diamond Legacy Society. Endowments afford a number of unique, deeply impactful ways to advance the UH mission and include:

Chairs
Endowed Chairs fuel medical advances by providing a permanent, annual source of income to bring emphasis to areas of importance, support the retention and recruitment of preeminent physician-scientists, recognize and honor a physician-scientist for their outstanding contributions to medical science, and provide a perpetual income stream for leading-edge research and innovative practices. Endowed chairs may be established at UH with a gift of $1.5 million or more. Currently, there are unique opportunities at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital (click here for more information) and the Neurological Institute (click here for more information) to establish an endowed chair with a gift of $1 million, triggering a matching grant. Fellowships
Endowed fellowships provide a significant advantage in our ongoing efforts to recruit young, highly talented physicians to University Hospitals, where they will receive further training and benefit from the expertise of accomplished specialists. Endowed fellowships may be established at University Hospitals with a gift of $1 million or more.

Lectureships
Endowed lectureships help bring renowned physician-scientists and other leading medical professionals to University Hospitals to share their expertise and knowledge with our staff. Endowed lectureships may be established at University Hospitals with a gift of $100,000 or more.

Funds
Endowed funds support a particular area of University Hospitals. Like endowed chairs, endowed funds are a wonderful way to bring emphasis to areas of importance and also support specific initiatives. Named endowed funds for a specific program within a department or division may be established at University Hospitals with a gift of $50,000 or more. A named endowed clinical research fund may be established with a gift of $250,000 or more.

Scholarships
Endowed scholarships support medical and nursing students. Named endowed scholarships may be established at University Hospitals with a gift of $50,000 or more.
